350-Acre Heath Creek Farm – Georgia

The focus of this project was to restore this neglected farm back to being productive, create a recreational interest, improve timber productivity, and make the land maintenance efficient and safe. Activities to accomplish this project included:

  • Clearing the land of trash – over 50 semi-truck loads of scrap iron
  • Eliminating erosion
  • Clearing the fields of brush and trees
  • Building access roads
  • Managing the selective harvesting of timber
  • Removing beetle-killed Long Leaf Pines
  • Planting pine trees native to Georgia
  • Preparing the fields that were cleared to be planted with hybrid Bermuda grasses
  • Managing the acquisition and maintenance of equipment
  • Hiring and managing workers
  • Clearing paths for and constructing fences
